Accessories For Your Lawn Mower

Unlike the ordinary manually-operated push type of lawn mower, the ride-on lawn mower – run on fuel to move around the garden – comes with many lawn mower accessories that are used to do different tasks. The accessories that are attached to the machine depend on what season of the year is it. There are accessories used for the colder months of winter and spring and there are those that are attached to the machine during summer and fall. These lawn mower accessories are especially needed when mowing and cleaning up a wide area of lawn grass, as the jobs can not be done easily without them.

Over the years of designing and manufacturing the equipment suitable for the many possible situations on the lawn year-round, companies like John Deere, Murray, Husqvarna, Reel, Simplicity, and Troy Built have created the accessories for attachment to the basic lawn mower equipment. For even smaller yards, a cordless electric mower has been invented too by companies like Honda and Black & Decker, designed to save you money over time, instead of using the more expensive fossil fuel-fed machines that are too big for the job.

Types of Lawn Mower Accessories

Neither is the manually operated push lawn mower fit for the smaller yards, if the homeowner does not have the time and the strength to do the job himself, as risking a do-it-yourself effort might instead result in serious medical problems for the unprepared individual. In today’s modern world many people are no longer used to very tedious manual labor as most have gotten used to mechanized tools for jobs like the mowing of a lawn. Many incidents of heart attacks have even happened to unsuspecting lawn owners who believed they could do the job by themselves manually.

For tighter spots and corners of the lawn, attachments like the edger or trimmer have been made by firms like Worx and Mantis for all those hard-to-reach spots, otherwise the homeowner has to do this manually.

In the warmer months of spring and summer, tillers, cultivators and harrows are some of the accessory equipment you can attach to your lawn mower. These are designed for planting and growing activities in the garden during this time of the year.

Summer is also the time for digging holes for posts and fences and other installations in the garden, since the sun is high and bright at this time. This is also the best time to move and carry around rocks and other heavy stuff that may have piled up in the past seasons, and for these you would need attachments like hole-diggers, backhoes, augers and buckets for your mower or tractor.

The next quarter of the year, autumn, will be for sweeping off those dead leaves and cleaning the whole yard from time to time. This will require more than just brooms and rakes, but attachments like lawn sweepers and vacuum cleaners, bagger attachments, and carts are handy to use to get the cleaning up done quicker and easier.

In winter you can have other accessories attached to your machine like snow blowers, snow throwers and blades. These accessory attachments are used to remove snow as well as dirt from the pathway and other parts of your garden. This is quite an impossible job with just a shovel, especially for one who is not physically conditioned to do it. It will cause countless muscle aches afterwards, if the unconditioned snow shoveler is not fit to do the task. It can even lead to a fatal heart attack. These fatal accidents have happened before – mistakes which could have been avoided if only the right lawn mower accessories were instead used to do the winter clean up job.
